Each year, IDC Financial Insights, in association with American Banker and Bank Technology News, SourceMedia's renowned publications for banking and financial services professionals, evaluates the revenues of the leading global technology and service providers to the financial services industry and constructs the FinTech rankings.
The data has been analyzed and the 2011 ranking has been published as a Special Report in American Banker and in the October 2011 issue of Bank Technology News. See the navigation on the right-hand side of this page to download the report. The results were announced at the BAI Retail Delivery Conference and Expo.
The 2011 ranking categorized and evaluated vendors based on calendar year adjusted revenues attributable to financial institution hardware, software, or services. Two categories of companies are ranked:
FinTech 100 – includes vendors that derive more than one-third of their revenue from the financial services industry.
Top 25 Enterprise Companies in FinTech – includes enterprise companies in financial services that are horizontal technology firms selling products and services across multiple industries and derive less than one-third of their revenues from financial services.
Revenue from sales of network, telecommunications, electronic exchanges, and data services are EXCLUDED, as these business lines are not technologies essential to running financial services organizations. Firms, such as market data providers or credit bureaus, that derive significant revenues from excluded categories, but also have revenue tied to software, hardware, or services, are considered in these rankings. For these data providers, the revenue attributed to data is used to qualify the provider to meet the one-third hurdle, yet only the qualifying portion of their revenue is included in the ranking.
Thank you for your interest in the FinTech rankings. If you have questions on the rankings, please contact us. For additional information, visit www.americanbanker.com/fintech100/. If you would like to be notified when we start the data collection process for the 2012 rankings, please contact us.
