Analyst Profile
In his role as research manager, Alex Kwiatkowski concentrates on the technologies used by retail and corporate banking institutions in EMEA, with a particular focus on multichannel interaction (including mobile devices, social media, and video), core systems transformation, BI and analytics, payments and application architecture strategies.Industry Expertise In a 16-year career combining IT research, analysis, and consultancy with senior roles held in end-user organizations in the financial services and telco sectors, Kwiatkowski's expertise has been used to author numerous reports and white papers on subjects such as the impact of mobility on retail banking; the reemergence and relevance of mobile commerce; the shift towards social CRM and the effect on banking; and the evolution of core systems. In addition to his published research, Kwiatkowski has also created and delivered lively presentations and keynote conference speeches, chaired industry panels and roundtables, and run workshops for both financial institutions and technology vendors covering a range of different subjects. Background Before joining IDC, Kwiatkowski spent four years as a principal analyst within Ovum's Financial Services Technology practice. Prior to this he worked as a senior manager in Lloyds TSB's Business Delivery team, and was closely involved in major modernization programs for the core and online banking systems. Between September 2000 and December 2004, Kwiatkowski was an integral member of Ovum's consulting group, working on client-specific projects for enterprise end users, technology vendors, service providers, and public sector bodies, as well as contributing to several of Ovums analyst advisory services. Kwiatkowski joined Ovum from Vodafone, where he served in a variety of roles between 1995 and 2000. Education and Industry Affiliations After attending schools in Sussex, Kwiatkowski graduated from SSEES, University College London in 1995 with a BA in contemporary East European studies.
