Karen Massey is a senior research analyst with IDC Financial Insights’ Consumer Banking practice, specializing in core banking and retail delivery channels.

Industry Expertise

Ms. Massey has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, with 15 years of experience advising financial institutions on a wide variety of business and technology issues, giving her a broad understanding of the retail banking arena. Ms. Massey’s experience ranges from local, national and international tactical implementations to strategic development and execution.

Ms. Massey contributes to the consumer FinTech blog in the IDC Financial Insights Community (http://idc-insights-community.com/financial) and tweets (@karenmassey) about business and IT issues related to consumer banking.

Background

Prior to joining IDC Financial Insights, Ms. Massey was a Senior Consultant with Demos Solutions, a leading provider of capacity planning and productivity solutions to financial institutions across the US, Canada and Asia/Pacific. Ms. Massey was involved in client engagements including retail banking system implementations, branch capacity planning and operations workflow, post-merger analysis for integration strategy definition, and process improvements utilizing six-sigma discipline. Ms. Massey previously worked in Audit and Special Projects for Liberty Mutual.

Education and Industry Affiliations

Ms. Massey received her MBA (with honors) from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business in International Business at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, which included course work at the University of Sydney, Australia. Ms. Massey received her BS in Finance and Accounting from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Ms. Massey has been quoted in and has contributed to numerous articles on consumer banking in publications including USA Today, American Banker, Bank Technology News, Bankrate.com, and USBanker.
