  Li-May Chew is an Associate Research Director for IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific. She is responsible for identifying the latest trends in the Asian risk management and insurance sectors, and how these affect the strategies, business operations and technology infrastructure of related financial institutions. Herein, she covers a plethora of topics, ranging from risk management implications of Basel II, to coverage on core applications investment for insurers. Li-May also co-manages the Banking Advisory Services practice.

Having worked as a sell-side analyst in the capital market industry for several years before joining IDC Financial Insights, Li-May brings unique skills in quantitative analysis and research to the team. She regularly engages with the key decision makers from Asia's financial services institutions and the financial technology vendor community serving them, collaborating closely to deliver on customized research engagements. Among the topics Li-May has consulted on include mergers and acquisitions of banks in the region, Islamic private banking, strategic initiatives and challenges of the Asia/Pacific insurance community, vendor product portfolio positioning, direct marketing strategies for an international financial institution, and online and offline retail and institutional brokerage market.

Li-May regularly presents to senior-level banking and insurance practitioners in internal and external briefings around the region, and is quoted frequently in various publications and by the international media.

Li-May has a bachelor's degree in commerce, with a major in accounting, finance, and economics from the University of Sydney, Australia. She earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2001 after passing all three levels of rigorous examinations on her first attempt. Li-May's professional affiliations include the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and the Singapore Society of Financial Analysts (SSFA).
