Overview

This IDC Financial Insights Pivot Table provides an updated spending forecast for worldwide bank IT spending for 2009–2013. Overall worldwide IT spending will increase in 2010 by a modest 0.5%. Although overall IT spend is relatively flat, this is not consistent across all spending categories, all types and sizes of institutions, or all regions. However, because the largest institutions continue to claim the largest proportion of IT spend and these institutions continue to be hardest hit by the global economic downturn, these institutions are driving down spend. On the contrary, many smaller institutions (banks and credit unions) remain well capitalized and are continuing with their technology investments even as consolidation continues.
